A member of the imperial family, politician and soldier of the early Qing Dynasty. Prince Rui. The 14th son of Emperor Taizu Nurhaci. Younger brother of Emperor Taizong. During the reign of Emperor Taizong, he participated in campaigns against the Chahar people of Inner Mongolia and Korea, as well as the siege of Jinzhou in Liaoxi, and was given the title of Mergendaichin (meaning wise) for his military achievements, and was enfeoffed as Prince Heshuo Rui. When Emperor Taizong died in 1643, a dispute arose over his succession, but he supported Emperor Shunzhi, Emperor Taizong's sixth son, who was still a child, and became regent together with Prince Zheng Jirgalan as regents. However, he soon subdued Jirgalan and played an active role as the most powerful man in the country, managing the various political situations before and after entering the country.

中国，清初の皇族，政治家兼軍人。睿親王。太祖ヌルハチの第14子。太宗の弟。太宗の世に内モンゴルチャハル部，朝鮮に対する征戦や遼西の錦州攻囲戦などに従軍し，戦功によりメルゲンダイチン(聡明の意)の号を賜り，和碩睿親王に封ぜられた。1643年太宗が没すると，その後継者について紛糾が生じたが，太宗の第6子で幼少の順治帝を擁立し，みずからは鄭親王ジルガランとともに輔政王として摂政に就任した。しかし，まもなくジルガランをおさえ，国政の最高権力者として存分に活躍し，入関前後の多端な政局の運営に当たった。
