A genus of green algae belonging to the Violaceae family that grows like a thin orange carpet or spots on exposed areas such as rocks, bark, or wooden fences. If you pick up a part of it with tweezers and examine it under a microscope, you will see that the alga is a single-row filament with many branches, and the chloroplasts inside the cells contain many orange granules. Specially shaped cells with a spherical or elliptical shape are produced at the tip or side of the filament, which are asexual reproductive organs and produce many zoospores inside.
