Trilussa - Trilussa (English spelling)

Italian poet. His real name was Carlo Alberto Salustri. Born into a poor family in Rome, he improvised songs about the everyday lives of ordinary people in the Roman dialect. He skillfully sang simple expressions, sharp satire, sentimentalism between the lines, and folk descriptions in short poems, mainly sonnets (fourteen-line poems), which were published in rapid succession in newspapers and magazines at the end of the 19th century, and gained explosive popularity. He is said to be a leader of dialect literature and a minstrel of the 20th century, following the tradition of ancient Roman allegorical poetry and the poetic style of the great poet Belli of the first half of the 19th century. From his first collection of poems, "The Starry Night of Rome" (1889), to "Romanesque Fables" (1900), "Music Café" (1901), "The Wolf and the Lamb" (1919), and his final collection of poems, "Water and Wine" (1944), his vast body of work was posthumously compiled into the "Complete Poems" (1951).

イタリアの詩人。本名カルロ・アルベルト・サルストリCarlo Alberto Salustri。ローマの貧しい家庭に生まれ、ローマ方言で庶民の生活感情を即興的に歌った。平易な表現、鋭い風刺、行間に漂う感傷、民俗描写などが、ソネット（十四行詩）を中心とした短詩に巧みに歌い込まれ、19世紀末の新聞・雑誌に矢つぎばやに掲載されて、爆発的な人気を集めた。古代ローマの寓意(ぐうい)詩の流れを引き、19世紀前半の大詩人ベッリの詩法を受け継いだ、方言文学の雄とも、20世紀の吟遊詩人ともいわれる。処女詩集『ローマの星空』（1889）以来、『寓話のロマネスク』（1900）、『音楽喫茶』（1901）、『狼(おおかみ)と仔(こ)羊』（1919）、最後の詩集『水と葡萄(ぶどう)酒』（1944）まで、膨大な作品群は没後『全詩集』（1951）にまとめられている。
