Born: October 24, 1826, Manche, Baronne [Died] July 21, 1910. Chantilly. French historian and paleographer. Appointed director of the National Library in 1874. His main work was "The Condition of Peasants and Agriculture in Medieval Normandy" (Études sur la condition de la classe agricole et l'état de l'agriculture en Normandie au Moyen Age) (1851).
