...It is widely distributed in the subarctic zone of Eurasia, and in Japan it is found in Hokkaido and central Honshu. The other species in the genus is M. canadense Desf. (two-leaved Solomon's seal), which is distributed in eastern North America. All three species are cultivated for decorative purposes.
