A Mexican trio that sings while playing the guitar. Formed in New York in 1944, they gained popularity over the next 30 years by singing lyrical Latin American songs, including sweet, pop-style boleros. They visited Japan several times between 1959 and 1966, which was the height of their popularity. The group's two permanent members were singer and composer Chucho Navarro and requinto guitar virtuoso Alfredo Gil, and the top voice changed several times, with the first vocalist Hernando Aviles and the fourth vocalist Johnny Albino (both Puerto Ricans) being the most famous.
