Ahmose [I] - Ahmose

...The 17th Dynasty, established in Thebes under the suzerainty of the Hyksos, worked to train professional soldiers, establish a military state system, and raise national consciousness, under the banner of liberation from foreign rule, thus preparing the way for the international expansion of the New Kingdom.
[New Kingdom Period - 18th Dynasty]
Around 1542 BCE, Aahmes I of the Theban dynasty captured the Hyksos capital of Abaris, expelling them from the country and establishing the 18th Dynasty. He then marched into southern Palestine to attack the last Hyksos stronghold, and also recovered Lower Nubia.
