Fine dust meter - Saijinkei (English spelling) dust counter

Japanese: 細塵計 - さいじんけい（英語表記）dust counter

An instrument that measures the amount of fine dust particles in the atmosphere. There are instruments that adiabatically expand moist air containing dust and count the number of mist particles that condense around the dust particles (Aitken nucleus counter), instruments that count by using light scattering by dust, and instruments that draw in outside air through a narrow slit, capture fine dust particles on a plate (such as a glass plate or a glass plate coated with a sticky substance) placed immediately behind it, and count the captured fine dust particles (called an impactor; a cascade impactor is one in which multiple plates are placed one after the other).

大気中の微細塵埃（じんあい）の数量などを測る器械。塵埃を含む湿潤空気を断熱的に膨張させ，塵埃を核として凝結した霧粒の数を測るもの(エイトケン核計数器)，塵埃による光の散乱を利用して計数するもの，外気を細隙を通して吸引し，その直後に置かれた板(ガラス板や粘着性物質を塗布したガラス板など)に細塵を捕捉し，捕捉した細塵を計数するもの(インパクターといい，板が何枚もつぎつぎに置かれたものをカスケード･インパクターという)がある。
