Navy Admiral's Office - Kaigun Tei Tokufu

...An institution of the former navy that controlled the rear of the fleet as the navy's base. Its predecessor was the Navy Admiral's Office, which was established within the Ministry of War in 1871 (Meiji 4). In 1875, the seas around Japan were divided into two, east and west, and placed under the command of east and west commanders, and in 1876, the East Sea and West Sea Naval Bases were established.
