(1915-53) were arrested for aiding in the leaking of atomic secrets to the Soviet Union. They were alleged to have obtained the secrets through Ethel's brother, David Greenglass, who had worked at the Los Alamos atomic bomb factory during the war. Although the couple consistently denied the crime, they were sentenced to death in April 1951 as the ringleaders and active collaborators of the espionage scheme, almost solely on the basis of Greenglass' testimony, which contained a number of questionable points. ...
