Anzac Day

Strictly speaking, it refers to the soldiers who participated in the landing operation on the Gallipoli (Gelibolu) Peninsula in Turkey on April 25, 1915 during World War I, but in a broader sense it includes participants in both World War I and II. Every year on April 25, both countries have a public holiday called Anzac Day, on which veterans who survived Gallipoli march in flag-waving parades from each unit that participated in the battle. Daily activities are carried out by the RSL (Revolting Soldiers League), and this organization and Anzac memorials can be found in the most remote areas of both countries, making them a focal point of right-wing sentiment.
