Yorkshire terrier

Japanese: ヨークシャー･テリア[種]（英語表記）Yorkshire terrier

A pet dog originating from the UK. It was developed in the mid-19th century by Scottish weavers who had immigrated to Lancashire and Yorkshire, based on a cross between a Skye Terrier and a Manchester Terrier, and was a natural pet dog. It initially weighed around 6 kg, but the current ultra-small breed, with a height of about 17.5 cm and a weight of about 2 kg, was established after World War II. Its body is covered with very long, soft, straight, silky fur, which is a deep bluish silver-gray color, with a golden-brown head and forechest.

原産地がイギリスの愛玩犬。19世紀中ごろ，ランカシャーやヨークシャーへ移住してきたスコットランドの機織職人らが，スカイ･テリアとマンチェスター･テリアの一代雑種を基礎として作出した生まれながらの愛玩犬である。当初は体重が約6kg前後で，現在の体高約17.5cm，体重約2kgの超小型種が確立されたのは第2次世界大戦後である。柔らかくまっすぐな絹糸状のひじょうに長い被毛が全身を覆い，毛色は全身が濃い青みを帯びた銀灰色で，頭部と前胸部は金色に輝く鮮やかな褐色である。
