A representative novel by British novelist H. Fielding. 18 volumes in total. Published in 1749. The exact original title is The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling. Tom, a foundling, is taken in by the landowner Allworthy and raised together with Blifil, the son of Allworthy's sister Bridget. The two boys have opposite personalities; Tom is morally careless but innocent and good, while Blifil is a hypocrite who constantly preaches about moral strictness.
