Daisuke Ito

Film director. Born in Ehime Prefecture. Graduated from Matsuyama Middle School. Studied under the director Osanai Kaoru and joined Shochiku Kamata, making his debut in Teikoku Kinema's "Sakechu Nikki" in 1924 (Taisho 13). He moved to Nikkatsu and earned a reputation as a silent film milestone with the "Tadashi Tabi Nikki" trilogy (1927) starring Okochi Denjiro. He showed off his rich speaking skills in trend films such as "Zanjin Zanbaken" (1929) and the "Ooka Political Talks" series, earning him a reputation for his film speaking skills. Even after the advent of talkies, he continued to incorporate the speaking skills of the silent era, and after Japan's defeat in World War II, he produced fine works such as "Osho" (1948).

映画監督。愛媛県出身。松山中学卒業。演出家の小山内薫(おさないかおる)に師事、松竹蒲田(かまた)に入り、1924年(大正13)帝国キネマの『酒中日記』でデビュー。日活に移り、大河内伝次郎(おおこうちでんじろう)主演の『忠次旅日記』三部作(1927)は無声映画の金字塔との名声を得た。傾向映画『斬人斬馬剣(ざんじんざんばけん)』(1929)、「大岡政談」シリーズなどで豊かな話術を披露、映画話術と評判をよんだ。トーキー以降も無声時代の話術を盛り、第二次世界大戦敗戦後は『王将』(1948)などの佳作がある。
