Nogata [city] - Nogata
A city in northern Fukuoka Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1931. It is located at the confluence of the Onga River and Hikosan River, at the southern end of the Nogata Plain. Since ancient times, it has been a distribution center for goods transported by water on the Onga River, but with the development of the Chikuho coalfields in the mid-Meiji period, it developed as a coal mining town and coal transportation center. The Chikuho Main Line runs through the city, and the Heisei Chikuho Railway branches off here, and the Chikuho Electric Railway also runs through it. The Fukuchi Mountains area in the east is part of the Kitakyushu Quasi-National Park. 61.76 km2 . 57,686 people (2010).
