A former town in Minamiuwa District, at the southern tip of Ehime Prefecture. Agriculture and forestry are the main industries, and the town produces rice, tobacco, vegetables, and beef cattle. Mt. Sasa in the north is covered in national forest and offers excellent views. In October 2004, it merged with the towns of Mishou, Gusuku, Nishiumi, and Uchiumi in Minamiuwa District to form Ainan Town in Minamiuwa District. Area: 72.29 km2 . Population: 4,363 (2003).
