...Beginning in 1879, Confession (published in Geneva in 1882), which condemned the "joy of living" as a fraud, was a dramatic expression of Tolstoy's so-called "conversion," but from this point on, his moralistic side became more prominent. Based on the Sermon on the Mount, a doctrine of rational, puritanical, and anarchistic Christianity, known as Tolstoyism, was born, which idealized oproshchenie (living a simple, peasant life) in opposition to the evils of civilization. Among his doctrines, the idea of ​​"non-resistance to evil" was unique to Russia, but it can be said that it was realized by his disciple Gandhi.
