Japanese: 冷凍運搬船 - れいとううんぱんせん

A ship that generally has refrigeration facilities to maintain the quality of its main cargo, food. There are two main types: refrigerated carriers and multipurpose refrigerated carriers. Refrigerated carriers are intended to transport frozen fish from fishing grounds in a frozen state. The storage temperature inside the cargo hold is -25 to -30°C, but for sashimi fish such as tuna, it can reach -50°C. Since refrigerated carriers often only have one-way cargo, for economic reasons they mainly operate between three countries, carrying general cargo and automobiles on outbound voyages and fruits and vegetables, dairy products, and frozen fish and meat on return voyages.

一般におもな積荷である食料品の品質保持のために冷蔵設備を有する船舶。その種類を大別すると冷蔵専用運搬船と多目的冷凍運搬船がある。冷蔵専用運搬船は漁場より凍結魚類の凍蔵運搬を目的とする。倉内の保蔵温度は－25～－30℃であるが，マグロなどの刺身用魚類の場合には－50℃にも達する。冷蔵専用運搬船は片航路のみの積荷が多いので，経済性の面から往航は一般貨物および自動車などを，復航には青果物，酪農品および冷凍魚肉を積載し，3国間をおもに運航する。
