〘Noun〙① The retirement residence of a prince. Also, an honorific title for that prince. [Yasuhtomi-ki, November 26, Kakitsu 2 (1442)]② An honorific title for the father of the regent. [Kogen-in documents, March 1611 (Keicho 16)]③ The former Shogun, or the residence of the Shogun's father. Also, an honorific title for that person. Often used in early modern times, especially to refer to Tokugawa Ieyasu and Ienari. ⇔Kogosho (little palace).
