Japanese: 李寧 - りねい（英語表記）(R)I Yŏng

A representative painter of the Goryeo period in Korea. Dates of birth and death unknown. Born in Jeonju. Active during the reign of Emperor Injong to Emperor Uijong (1123-70). According to the History of Goryeo, when he accompanied an envoy to Song in 1124, he taught painting to Hanlim Taizhong's Wang Kehun, Chen Dezhi, Den Zongren, and Jo Sujing. He also painted Goryeo's Paintings on the River Yiseong and presented it to Huizong, who praised him, saying, "There are many Goryeo painters who have come to the court recently, but Li Ning is the only one who is skilled," and awarded him wine, brocade, and twill silk. 朝鮮，高麗時代の代表的画家。生没年不詳。全州の人。仁宗～毅宗朝(1123‐70)のころに活躍した。《高麗史》によれば，1124年使臣に随行して入宋した折，徽宗の命により翰林待詔の王可訓，陳徳之，田宗仁，趙守宗らに画を教えた。また徽宗の命で，高麗の《礼成江図》を描いて進上したところ，徽宗は〈近ごろ来朝する高麗画工は多いが，李寧のみが妙手である〉と賞し，酒，錦綺，綾絹等を授与した。【吉田宏志】
