Chinese author and medical scientist. His given name was Shi, and his courtesy name was Jingsun. He was born in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. He came to Japan with his family in 1906 (Meiji 39). He studied at Kyushu Imperial University, Tohoku Imperial University, and other universities, including the School of Medicine and School of Science. While at Kyushu Imperial University, he became a member of the Creative Society, and published his first work, Mokusei, in Japanese in the coterie magazine Green with Guo Moruo and others. In 1922, he translated it into Chinese and reprinted it in the quarterly magazine Creative. He was a man of many talents and musical talents, and organized an orchestra at Tohoku Imperial University. He returned to Japan in 1929. He took over the magazine Popular Literature from Yu Dafu, and while editing it, he became interested in theater, including puppet shows, and joined the Shanghai Art Theater Company, where he was active. In 1931, he entered the Shanghai Institute of Natural Sciences, where he studied social hygiene. He later lived in Taiwan for a time, but defected to Japan in 1950, where he worked as a lecturer at Tokyo University, among other positions. His books include the collection of short stories "Concert Short Pieces" (1927) and "A Testament to Japan" (in Japanese), which was published posthumously.
