Mount Fengben

Located in the center of Yamaguchi Prefecture, this mountain straddles the cities of Yamaguchi, Hagi, and Mine. It is divided into Nishihohenzan (742 meters) and Higashihohenzan (734 meters). Both have excellent views of the Sea of ​​Japan and the Seto Inland Sea. Nishihohenzan, which has a road leading to its gentle summit, is lined with radio towers for the Japan Meteorological Agency and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Company (NTT). The summit of Higashihohenzan is a wide grassland with azaleas and gentians in bloom, and the Chugoku Nature Trail has been developed from Bando Pass on the Hagi Highway (Major Regional Road Yamaguchi Asahi Line), and it is popular among Yamaguchi residents to climb the mountain to see the sunrise on New Year's Day.

山口県中央部にあり、山口市、萩(はぎ)市、美祢(みね)市にまたがる山。西鳳翩山（742メートル）と東鳳翩山（734メートル）に分かれる。ともに展望に優れ、日本海と瀬戸内海が望まれる。なだらかな山頂まで車道が通じている西鳳翩山は気象庁や日本電信電話会社（NTT）などの無線塔が建ち並んでいる。東鳳翩山は山頂一帯がツツジ、リンドウの咲く広い草原をなし、萩往還（主要地方道山口旭(あさひ)線）の板堂峠から中国自然歩道が整備され、元旦(がんたん)の御来光登山でも山口市民に親しまれている。
