This alluvial plateau lies in the southeast of Aichi Prefecture, south of Toyohashi City. It is the top of a three-tiered terrace on the left bank of the Toyokawa River and forms the base of the Atsumi Peninsula. It is adjacent to Takashibara across the Umeda River. The Pacific coast forms a linear cliff, and due to reverse tilt movement, the Pacific coast is high and slopes northward. The topsoil is highly acidic and poorly hydrated, making it unsuitable for cultivation and used as an army training ground. However, it was developed after World War II, and the poor water quality was eliminated after the opening of the Toyokawa Irrigation Canal. It is now a vegetable gardening area, and has become significantly residential due to the urbanization of Toyohashi City and the construction of Mikawa Port.
