A type of physical therapy. A treatment for illnesses that applies electrical energy, utilizing the electricity's stimulating and calming effects on the central and peripheral nerves, and stimulating effects on muscles. Therapies that use low-frequency current include continuous current (DC), low-frequency AC, and intermittent continuous current (rectangular wave, triangular wave, etc.), and are used for peripheral nerve paralysis, peripheral circulatory disorders, neuralgia, etc. It is also used in conjunction with a hot bath (water electric bath). In continuous current, the anode of the conductor (electrode) calms stimulated nerves, and the cathode increases the excitability of the paralyzed area. It is also possible to soak the conductor in a medicinal solution and introduce the drug into the body as ions. Other treatments include high-frequency therapy and electrostatic therapy. → Related topics Physical therapy Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
