A general term for minerals containing tellurium. Tellurium is rarely found as the elemental mineral natural tellurium, but is usually found as tellurides of gold, silver, copper, lead, iron, bismuth, and other elements, and there are a wide variety of tellurium minerals. The main types include sylvanite (AuAgTe _{4 )} , calaverite (AuTe _{2 )} , krennerite (AuTe _{2 )} , petzite (also called gold-silver tellurite ore) (AuAg ₃ Te _{2 )} , hessite (Ag ₂ Te), tetradymite (Bi ₂ Te ₂ S), altaite (also called tellurium ore) (PbTe), coloradoite (HgTe), rickardite (Cu ₄ Te _{3 )} , and the oxide mineral tellurite (also called tellurium oxide ore) (TeO _{2 )} .
