This law states that the atomic heat of a solid element is almost constant, at about 25 J/deg (about three times the gas constant R), with a few exceptions such as carbon and boron. It was discovered by Dulong and Petit in 1819. It is not strict, and does not hold true especially at low temperatures, but it has been used to estimate atomic weights. → Related articles Duron | Petit Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
