Due process of law. In Japan, it is also translated as "due process of law" or "due legal process". It is one of the basic concepts of the American Constitution. The Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution (established in 1791) states that "No person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law," and the Fourteenth Amendment (established in 1868) states that "No State shall deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law."
