Tetrazine

C ₂ H ₂ N ₄ (82.07). The name of a heterocyclic six-membered ring consisting of four N atoms and two C atoms. Three isomers, (a) to (c), are possible, but no compound with the skeleton of (c) is known. Only derivatives of (b) are known. (a) is synthesized from diazoacetate via tetrazine dicarboxylic acid. Purple-red columnar crystals. Melting point 99 °C. Soluble in water and organic solvents. Sublimable, can only be stored in closed tubes. When reduced, it easily becomes the dihydro form (yellow columnar crystals with a melting point of 125-126 °C), which is isomerizes to 1,2,4-triazole. When the dihydro form is heated in air, it reverts to tetrazine.

C₂H₂N₄(82.07)．N原子4個とC原子2個からなる複素六員環の名称．(a)～(c)の3種類の異性体が考えられるが，このうち(c)の骨格をもつ化合物は知られていない．また，(b)は誘導体のみが知られている．(a)はジアゾ酢酸エステルからテトラジンジカルボン酸を経て合成される．紫赤色の柱状結晶．融点99 ℃．水，有機溶媒に可溶．昇華性があり，閉管中でのみ保存可能である．還元すると容易にジヒドロ体(融点125～126 ℃ の黄色の柱状晶)になり，1,2,4-トリアゾールに異性化する．ジヒドロ体を空気中で加熱するとテトラジンに戻る．
