An insect of the Lepidoptera family, Pyralidae. Wing span is 1.5-2cm. The forewings are brown with two white lines, and the edge of the central compartment has a kidney-shaped pattern bordered by a white line. It is widely distributed throughout Japan, Asia, Africa, and Europe, and is also distributed on Pacific islands, but it is believed that some of them were introduced artificially. The larvae are pests of cruciferous vegetables such as radishes, turnips, Chinese cabbage, and cabbage, and emerge 3-4 times a year, but in warm regions they emerge 1-2 times more. They overwinter as larvae. They make tunnels out of vegetable sprouts and insect droppings, live inside them, and eat damage.

鱗翅目メイガ科の昆虫。翅の開張1.5～2cm。前翅は茶褐色，白線が2本あり，中室端に白色線で縁取られた腎形紋がある。日本全国，アジア，アフリカ，ヨーロッパに広く分布し，太平洋の島々にも分布しているが，一部は人為的に運ばれたものと推定される。幼虫はダイコン，カブ，ハクサイ，キャベツなどアブラナ科蔬菜（そさい）の害虫で，年に3～4回発生するが，温暖地ではさらに1～2回よけいに発生する。幼虫で越冬。蔬菜の芽や虫糞をつづってトンネル状として，その中にすみ，中から出て食害する。
