Japanese: 経蔵 - きょうぞう（英語表記）sūtra-piṭaka

Buddhist scriptures are classified into three categories: (1) sutras, which are a collection of the Buddha's words; (2) vinaya, which specifies the actions and attitudes that should be taken by practitioners; and (3) treatises, which are a collection of explanations, interpretations, and research on Buddhist doctrines. These are called the Tripitaka, and this is the first of them. For example, the Buddhist scripture collections in Sri Lanka and other places are organized into five sections: the Digha-nikāya, the Majjhima-nikāya, the Saṃyutta-nikāya, the Aṅiguttara-nikāya, and the Khuddaka-nikāya.

仏教の典籍は，(1) 仏陀の言葉の集成である経，(2) 修行者のとるべき行動，態度を規定した律，(3) 仏教教理の説明，解釈，研究の集成である論の3種類に分類され，三蔵というが，その第1のもの。たとえばスリランカなどの仏教の経蔵は長部 Dīgha-nikāya，中部 Majjhima-nikāya，相応部 Saṃyutta-nikāya，増支部 Aṅiguttara-nikāya，小部 Khuddaka-nikāyaの5部に整理されている。
