〘Noun〙 Buddhist term. ① (translation of ekakṣara-uṣṇīṣacakra) One of the Five Crowned Buddhas, personifying one character of the mantra ( boron , Sanskrit bhrūṃ) that Mahavairocana preached when he entered the supreme samadhi. The statue sits in a cross -lotus position with his hands making mudras, and the one with a golden wheel placed on the mudras is called Shaka's Golden Wheel, while the one wearing the Five Wisdom Treasures Crown is called Mahavairocana. One-character Golden Wheel Buddha. One-character crowned wheel. ※Asabakusho (around 1242-81), 56 "Holding two golden wheels, one following the one -character mantra , this one is all one character golden wheel . " ② Abbreviation of "ichiji kinrin no ho (one-character golden wheel method)." ※Masukagami (around 1368-76) 15 "The first character, Kinrin, is Jokyo Sojo, and the second character, Nyoho Sonsho, is Kanshu Sojo."
