A large amusement park opened by Walt Disney in 1955 in Anaheim, a suburb of Los Angeles, California, with an investment of $17 million. The park is made up of eight areas (lands) with unique themes. (1) Main Street, which recreates the streetscape of an eastern seaboard town from around 1890 to 1910. (2) Adventureland, where you can take a small boat for a Jungle Cruise. (3) New Orleans Square, set in mid-18th century New Orleans, known for the Mississippi River and jazz music, where you can enjoy Dixieland music and other attractions. (4) Frontierland, which recreates the American West from the pioneer days. (5) Fantasyland, where you can watch musical shows featuring popular Disney cartoon stars such as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. (6) Tomorrowland, which depicts a future country with rides that allow you to experience space travel and time travel. (7) Critter Country, set in the mountains and rivers where various animals such as bears, rabbits, and foxes live. (8) Toontown shows the town where Mickey Mouse and other characters from Disney cartoon movies live. In 1971, Walt Disney World, with a total area of about 110 ^km2 (about twice the size of Manhattan Island) and the Magic Kingdom as its main attraction, opened in the suburbs of Orlando, Florida, as the second Disneyland. In April 1983, Tokyo Disneyland opened as the first park outside the United States, followed by Disneyland Paris in 1992 and Hong Kong Disneyland in 2005.
