A scholar of the late Joseon Dynasty, Korea, and the founder of the Korean Yangming School. His pen name was Shiyang, and his pen name was Hagok. He was from Yeonil, Gyeongsang Province, and was the descendant of Jeong Mongju. He was the first in Korea to seriously study Yangmingism, which was considered a heretical school at the height of Neo-Confucianism and was considered a heretical school. He established his school of thought among the Soron school scholars, including Yi Kwang-sin and Yi Kwang-sa, on Ganghwa Island, and it was passed on to Yi Geon-chang and Jeong In-bo at the end of the Joseon Dynasty. He also studied astronomy, calendar science, philology, and social systems, and practiced practical learning, which hated the false and the provisional. However, because he was a Yangming scholar, his entire work, including his masterpiece, Conscious Mind, was not published at the time.

朝鮮，李朝後期の学者，朝鮮陽明学派の祖。字は士仰，号は霞谷。慶尚道延日の人。鄭夢周の後孫に当たる。朱子学が全盛をほこり，異学異端視されていた陽明学を朝鮮で初めて本格的に研究し，江華島で李匡臣，李匡師らの少論派学者たちの間にその学統を開き，李朝末の李建昌，鄭寅普にうけつがれた。かたわら天文暦学，文字学，社会制度の研究に励み，〈虚〉〈仮〉を憎む〈実学〉を実践した。しかし代表作《存心》をはじめとする彼の全著作は，陽明学者なるゆえに当時は刊行されなかった。
