…The Church of England has traditionally made decisions through a Convocation, but now, following the example of other dioceses, a General Assembly, which includes lay members, has taken the place of the Convocation as the decision-making body. When the movement for unification began in this century, the Anglican Church took advantage of its unique position as a bridge between Catholics and Protestants to actively contribute to the development of the movement, and outstanding leaders such as Charles Henry Brent and W. Temple promoted discussions between the churches and contributed to the establishment of the World Council of Churches. On the other hand, discussions with the Roman Catholic Church also progressed, and after the Second Vatican Council, which recognized the unique position of the Anglican Church, the International Committee for the Anglican-Roman Catholic Church was established, and to date, it has published consensus statements on the Eucharist Doctrine (1971), the Doctrine of the Ministry (1973), and the Question of Authority (1976). …
