British female author. Her real name is Elizabeth MacKintosh. She is famous for her series of detective novels, such as The Franchise Case (1948) and The Daughter of Time (1951), which feature Inspector Grant of the Metropolitan Police as the protagonist. "The Daughter of Time" means "the truth," and in this work, the hospitalized inspector deduces truths from his sickbed to prove the innocence of Richard III, who was generally believed (even by Shakespeare) to have been an evil king who had the heir to the throne assassinated in the Tower of London.

イギリスの女流作家。本名はエリザベス･マッキントッシュElizabeth MacKintosh。ロンドン警視庁のグラント警部を主人公とする一連の推理小説，《フランチャイズ事件》(1948)，《時の娘The Daughter of Time》(1951)などで有名。〈時の娘〉とは〈真理〉の意味で，この作品では入院中の警部が病床で推理をめぐらし，王位継承者をロンドン塔で暗殺させた悪王として一般に(シェークスピアからも)信じられていたリチャード3世の無実を証明する。
