Satake Incident

Japanese: 佐竹騒動 - さたけそうどう

This incident occurred around 1755-57 (5-7th year of the Horeki era) involving the issue of succession to the Satake clan, the lords of the Akita domain, and the issue of issuing silver notes (a type of domain currency). The story is used in reading books such as "The Tale of Akita Suginao" and "The Record of Akita Jiranki." The fifth lord of the domain, Yoshimine (1690-1749), entered the main family from the branch family of Iki no Kami, but was unable to have children and adopted Yoshikata, who was from the branch family of Shikibu Shoyu, as his son. However, when Yoshikata died, he adopted Yoshikata's son Yoshimasa (1732-53).

1755‐57年(宝暦5‐7)ごろに秋田藩主佐竹氏の世嗣問題と銀札(藩札の一種)の発行問題がからんで生じた事件。これを題材とした読本に《秋田杉直（なおし）物語》《秋田治乱記》がある。5代藩主義峰（よしみね）(1690‐1749)は分家の壱岐守家から宗家に入ったが，子に恵まれず分家の式部少輔家の義堅（よしかた）を養子にした。しかし義堅が死去したので義堅の子義真（よしまさ）(1732‐53)を養子にした。
