Japanese: 津和野[町] - つわの

A town in Kanoashi County in western Shimane Prefecture. Tsuwano, located in the center of the upper reaches of the Tsuwano River along the Yamaguchi Line, was the castle town of the Kamei clan in the early modern period, and is home to the ruins (historic site) of Tsuwano Castle (Sanbonmatsu Castle). It is known as the "Little Kyoto of Sanin" and still retains the appearance of a castle town. It is the center of the southwestern Iwami region. It produces rice, chestnuts, wasabi, tea, and other products. Mori Ogai and Nishi Amane were born and their former homes are located here. The heron dance is handed down at Yasaka Shrine. Mount Aono is located here. In September 2005, Hichibara Town in Kanoashi County was incorporated, and the town hall became the former Hichibara Town Hall. 307.03 ^km2 . 8,427 people (2010).

島根県西部，鹿足(かのあし)郡の町。津和野川上流，山口線に沿う中心の津和野は近世亀井氏の居城地で，津和野城（三本松城）跡（史跡）があり，〈山陰の小京都〉と呼ばれ城下町の面影を残す。石見(いわみ)地方南西部の中心。米，クリ，ワサビ，茶などを産する。森鴎外，西周(あまね)の生地でその旧居がある。弥栄(やさか)神社に鷺舞が伝わる。青野山がある。2005年９月鹿足郡日原町を編入し，町役場を旧日原町役場とした。307.03km²。8427人（2010）。
