Erythropoietin

Also known as erythropoietin. A peptide hormone synthesized in the kidneys and secreted into the blood, it has the activity of promoting hematopoiesis. Its synthesis and secretion are regulated by the oxygen concentration in the blood. It acts on erythroid colony-forming cells to promote their differentiation into red blood cells. エリトロポイエチンともいう．腎臓で合成され，血中へ分泌されるペプチドホルモンで，造血を促進する活性がある．血中の酸素濃度により合成・分泌が調節される．赤芽球コロニー形成細胞に働いて赤血球に至る方向へ分化を促進する．
