Murasaki Shikibu Collection

Japanese: 紫式部集 - むらさきしきぶしゅう

Murasaki Shikibu's personal collection of poems. A self-selected collection of poems from her childhood to her later years. The surviving versions are divided into the Teika series (represented by the Jissen Joshidai version) and the older versions (represented by the Yomei Bunko version), each containing around 120-130 poems and with different prefaces, but the Iwanami Bunko edition of "Murasaki Shikibu Collection" is the certified edition. This carefully selected collection contains no trash poems, few solo poems, and many gift poems, which shows that Shikibu placed importance on acquaintances and friendships during her lifetime, and it is a valuable resource for learning about Shikibu's character, thoughts, style of poetry, and life.
