Yellow-spotted longhorn beetle (English name: Psacothea hilaris)

An insect of the family Cerambycidae in the order Coleoptera. Body length 14-30mm. The body is black and covered with fine grayish-white hairs. The head, pronotum, and elytra have yellow markings, but their shape and color vary regionally, and they are divided into several subspecies. The antennae are long, 2.6 times the body length in males and twice as long in females. The pronotum has weak horizontal wrinkles, and small cone-shaped protuberances on both sides. The elytra narrow gently backwards. The larvae bore into the wood of fig and mulberry trees, and the adults also gnaw on the bark of these trees, causing great damage. They are distributed in Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Tsushima, and the Ryukyu Islands.
