Kuzuhara Pasture - Tsunahara Pasture

Japanese: 葛原牧 - つなはらのまき

From the late Heian period to the Middle Ages, this pasture was located in Katori County, Shimousa Province (currently near Sawara City, Chiba Prefecture). It is unclear what the pasture originally belonged to. Part of the pasture became a manor early on, and Orihata Village (currently Omigawa Town) was established in the southern part of the pasture, and Ono Village in the northern part. The borders of Orihata Village were Kinouchi Sakai in Kaijo County to the east, Nijubori Sakai in Senda County to the south, Fukuda/Aine Sakai in the west, and Ota/Yoshiwara/Ohata Sakai in the north. Since their ancestor Toyosato, the pasture had belonged to the Onakatomi clan, the chief priests of Katori Shrine, and they had served as priests there for generations. However, in June 1156 (Hogen 1), just before the Hogen Rebellion, Norichika, the chief priest of Kashima Shrine in Hitachi, attempted to seize both villages, claiming to be on the orders of the family of Fujiwara no Yorinaga, the Minister of the Left.

平安後期から中世にかけて下総国香取郡(現，千葉県佐原市付近)にあった牧。牧としての本来の所属関係は明らかでない。早くから牧内の一部が荘園化し，牧南部に織幡村(現，小見川町)，北部に小野村が成立した。織幡村の境界は，東は海上郡木内堺，南は千田郡二重堀，西は福田･相根堺，北は太田･吉原･大畠堺であった。先祖豊郷以来，代々香取神宮大禰宜家大中臣氏の所領で，神役を務めていたが，保元の乱直前の1156年(保元1)6月，常陸の鹿島社大禰宜則近が左大臣藤原頼長家の命と称し，両村の押領を企てた。
