Onakatomi clan

Japanese: 大中臣氏 - おおなかとみし
Onakatomi clan

Descendants of the ancient aristocrat Nakatomi who were in charge of Shinto deities. In the entry for June 19, 769, in the Shoku Nihongi, it is written that in prayers, the name is Oonakatomi, and that Nakatomi Ason Kiyomaro was appointed to the Shinto deities twice and served well, so an imperial decree was issued to bestow the surname Oonakatomi Ason. Kiyomaro's descendants inherited this title, while according to the entries for Nakatomi Kome and Oonakatomi Idoto in the Engihonkei, which is cited in the Nakatomi Family Genealogy, 515 people were given the title Oonakatomi. This clan has produced many Shinto deities, including the Minister of Shinto, the Minister of Shinto, and many poets.
