Coordinated water - Haisui (English spelling)

Japanese: 配位水 - はいいすい（英語表記）coordinated water

In the narrow sense, it refers to the water of crystallization in the hydrates of salts that is directly coordinated to cations (other than coordinated water, there are anion water, lattice water, zeolite water, etc.). In the broad sense, it refers to water that is coordinated to the central atom in a complex, not limited to salts. In coordination chemistry, the name of the ligand is aqua. For example, in a crystal of CuSO ₄ ･5H ₂ O, 4H ₂ O coordinates to Cu ²⁺ to form coordinated water, forming a square planar [Cu(H ₂ O) ₄ ] ²⁺ complex, with SO ₄ ^2- coordinated above and below this plane, and the remaining H ₂ O combines with SO ₄ ^2- to form anion water.

狭義には，塩類の水和物の結晶水の中で，陽イオンに直接配位している水をいう(配位水のほかには，陰イオン水，格子水，沸石水などがある)。広義には，塩類に限らず錯体中で中心原子に配位している水をいう。錯体化学での配位子名はアクア。たとえばCuSO₄･5H₂Oの結晶中では，4H₂OがCu^2＋に配位して配位水となり平面正方形型の[Cu(H₂O)₄]^2＋錯体をつくり，この平面の上下からSO₄^2－が配位し，残りのH₂OはSO₄^2－と結合して陰イオン水となっている。
