Tsunashima [Hot Springs] - Tsunashima

Japanese: 綱島[温泉] - つなしま

This hot spring is located in Tsunashima-cho, Kohoku-ku, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. In 1914, radium springs were discovered in the hills near the Tsurumi River, and after the opening of the Tokyu Toyoko Line in 1926, it rapidly developed into a retreat for Tokyo and Yokohama. In the 1960s, the hot springs town had about 80 inns, but as residential development progressed along the Toyoko Line, the number decreased, and now only about 10 remain around Tsunashima Station. Pure sodium bicarbonate spring, 15°C. The water is heated before being supplied. [Tanizawa Akira]

神奈川県横浜市港北区綱島町にある温泉。1914年鶴見川近くの丘陵にラジウム鉱泉が発見され，26年の東急東横線開通後，東京，横浜の奥座敷として急速に発展した。昭和40年代ころは旅館約80軒の温泉街であったが，東横線沿線の宅地化が進んで減少し，現在は10軒ほどが綱島駅周辺に残る。純重曹泉，15℃。加熱して給湯されている。【谷沢明】
