Tsuna Hills

Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture, is a landform-type hilly area that averages about 300 meters and stretches from the center to the north. The highest point is Mt. Myoken (522 meters), and both sides of the hill are marked by prominent fault cliffs. The base is made of granite, and it was separated from the Rokko Mountains on the mainland by the collapse of the Akashi Strait, and is a type of fault mountain range created by the rise of the earth's crust. Parts of the hilly area have been dissected, and land use is progressing as the center of Awaji Island's flower and vegetable cultivation and livestock industry.

兵庫県淡路島の中央部から北部に延びる平均300メートル前後の地塁型丘陵地。最高地点は妙見山（522メートル）で、丘陵地の両側は顕著な断層崖(がい)となっている。基盤は花崗(かこう)岩からなり、明石(あかし)海峡の陥没により本土の六甲(ろっこう)山地と分断されたもので、地殻の上昇によって生まれた断層山地の一種である。丘陵地の一部は開析(かいせき)され、淡路島の花卉(かき)・蔬菜(そさい)栽培や畜産業の中心地として土地利用が進んでいる。
