Society of Friends of the People (English: Society of Friends of the People)

One of the republican associations formed during the July Monarchy in France. At the time, various associations with different tendencies were formed among the republicans based on the extraparliamentary movement of the working class and the petty bourgeoisie, but the "Friends of the People" in particular was influenced by Jacobin traditions and was strengthening its ties with the workers. Many members of the "Friends of the People" Society participated in the anti-government demonstrations that developed after the funeral of the republican General Lamarque on June 5, 1832, and they had already taken a stance of supporting the workers' uprising in Lyon in 1831.

フランス，七月王政期に形成された共和派の結社の一つ。当時，議会外の小市民，労働者層の運動を基盤とする共和主義派にはさまざまの傾向をもった結社が形成されたが，なかでも「人民の友」協会にはジャコバン主義の伝統が流れ込んで，労働者への接近を強めていた。 1832年6月5日共和派のラマルク将軍の葬儀を契機に発展した反政府デモには「人民の友」協会の会員が多数参加しており，すでに 31年リヨンの労働者蜂起を支持する態度に出ていた。
