An old town in Kitauwa District, in the southern part of Ehime Prefecture, bordering the south of Uwajima City. The main settlement is Iwamatsu on the left bank of the Iwamatsu River. Most of the area is mountainous, and forestry and fruit cultivation are carried out. The western part faces the Uwa Sea, and aquaculture of pearls, yellowtail, sea bream, and other fish is thriving. The coastline is part of Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park. In August 2005, it was incorporated into Uwajima City along with Mima Town and Yoshida Town in Kitauwa District. 221.00 km2 . 愛媛県南部,宇和島市の南に接する北宇和郡の旧町。主集落は岩松川左岸の岩松。大部分山地で林業,果樹栽培を行う。西部は宇和海に臨み,真珠,ハマチ,タイなどの養殖漁業が盛ん。沿岸は足摺宇和海国立公園に属する。2005年8月北宇和郡三間町,吉田町と宇和島市へ編入。221.00km2。1万3868人(2003)。
