This extensive Yayoi period ruins spans Izumi-cho, Gakunan-cho, Ezu-cho, and other areas of Okayama City. Located on an alluvial plain on the right bank of the Asahi River, it was known as the "Denryojo Ruins" until World War II. After the war, the center was developed into a park, and parts of the ruins were destroyed to make way for park facilities such as a baseball field and martial arts hall, but due to a growing preservation movement, most of the ruins were left intact. Four excavations in 1961, 1962-63, 1968, and 1969 revealed that the ruins date back to the late Jomon period. The remains of rice paddies from the early Yayoi period in the lower layer were wet, but in the upper layer they were changed to dry fields in the middle Yayoi period, revealing the development of drainage and irrigation technology during this period, revealing the development of rice paddy farming technology in the Yayoi period.
