Hagiwara Sakutaro's first collection of poems. Published in 1917 (Taisho 6) by Kanjōshisha and Hakujitsusha Publishing. Contains 56 poems published between 1914 and 1917 ("Love and Compassion" and "A Person Who Loves Love" were deleted due to concerns about the corruption of morals). The significance of this collection lies in the way it expresses a world captured by "abnormal nerves" like "a razor deeply drenched in melancholy perfume" (Kitahara Hakushu), "using modern language with complete freedom" (Saijo Yaso). "Two pine-clad cats, / On the roof on a troubled night, / From the tips of their stiff tails, / A thread-like crescent moon fades. / 'Oh, good evening,' / 'Oh, good evening, oh, good evening, oh, good evening,' / 'Oh, the master of this house is sick.'" ("Cat"). The first half is filled with tension, while the second half is relaxed, similar to his second collection of poems, "Blue Cat."
