...In April 1960, after the collapse of the Syngman Rhee government, the group actively supported the Park Chung-hee government, which was established, and supported the Japan-Korea talks and the conclusion of the Japan-Korea Treaty in June 1965. It also promoted the acquisition of permanent residency under the Agreement on Legal Status of Koreans in Japan, and the number of applicants reached about 350,000 in January 1971. In the 1970s, conflict arose within Mindan over the Korean democratization movement, and conflicts between the Central Headquarters and the Tokyo Headquarters, the Kanagawa Prefectural Headquarters, the Korean Youth League in Japan, and the Korean Student League in Japan intensified. These anti-mainstream groups formed the Japanese Headquarters of the National Council for the Restoration of Democracy and Promotion of Unification of Korea (Korean Mintong) in 1973 and were expelled from the Mindan organization. Mindan then reorganized itself by forming new youth and student associations. Mindan actively supported the Korean Restoration System, engaged in home visits for Korean residents in Japan, the Saemaul (New Heart) movement, and campaigned against administrative discrimination by the Japanese authorities against Korean residents in Japan. ...
